Basketball simulation game based on the NBA
NBA 2K20 is a paid basketball simulation game developed by 2K Games. As the 21st entry in the NBA 2K series, and this game follows NBA 2K19. You can play using actual or created players and teams. NBA 2K20 introduces MyCAREER: it allows players to experience a story-driven, cinematic player campaign.
NBA 2K20 supports multi-platform gameplay and has several editions depending on the versions, but we will talk about all the present versions in this article. Notable improvements include over 60,000 new lines of dialogue, all-new studio shows and game intros, MyPLAYER interviews, and extensive coverage of records and milestones.
Game on with the very best
NBA 2K20’s one of the most significant additions is the inclusion of the Women's National Basketball Association or WNBA. This brings 12 WNBA teams and 140 players, complete with unique animations and play styles. The MyCAREER campaign features Idris Elba and Rosario Dawson, giving it a cinematic touch. The story follows your custom MyPLAYER's journey to stardom. Customize your MyPLAYER with deeper skill badges, builds, and a refined progression system.
The game’s signature player styles have advanced shooting controls and the dribble size-up system allows for more fluidity. MyLEAGUE also has new skill trees, and over 2,000 arena-specific crowd reactions, and sounds further immerse the player in the atmosphere of a real NBA game. The music and soundtrack are equally impressive, offering contemporary music choices from that time. Lastly, the controls are very intuitive on a console or PC.
However, NBA 2K20 isn't without its flaws. The Deluxe Edition is only available as a digital download, which may be inconvenient for some players. The game also requires a large storage space, an issue for systems with limited hard drive capacity. Also, the inability to customize female players is a missed opportunity. Finally, the existence of three different game editions can be confusing, potentially leading to purchasing decisions they later regret.
A welcome addition to the franchise
NBA 2K20 sets a high bar for basketball simulations. The inclusion of the WNBA, the enhanced MyCAREER mode, the refined gameplay mechanics, and the impressive presentation all contribute to a compelling and immersive experience. Despite some glaring issues like its confusing game editions and large space requirement, NBA 2K20 is worth checking out whether you're a seasoned veteran of the 2K series or a newcomer to the world of virtual basketball.
